E is for... Everything I Don't Know

E is for... Everything I Don't Know!

Amazing to imagine that we've just moved to a city we hadn't even visited before!

Lots to figure out -- how to get a cell phone, which neighbourhoods are good to live in (got to find an apartment!), how the public transportation system works, what sorts of legal paperwork are required, and so on.

So far all I know is where I'll be working, and the view outside our hotel room:

Down the street:
Brunswick Monument

The adventure begins!

Ah, but think of all the fun and E-xpereinces you'll have learning all your need to know!

By the way, awesome views! =)
Hi Deniz .. such a wonderful opportunity and six months or so of learning your way round and how and when and what to do things .. hope you can find somewhere to settle quite quickly ...

Such fun - and I'll love tag along on the post with you - cheers Hilary
It will be total culture shock for a while, but you'll figure it all out. Just enjoy the ride.
Maybe you should get one of those tourist guidebooks, even though technically you'll be a local; that way you'll get some more information on which neighborhoods you should visit and which restaurants/stores are the most popular.

This sounds like a wonderful adventure! I agree with others that buying a travel guide will help you get some of the basics about the area. Beautiful pictures! Wishing you all the best. :)

Good pick for E - that's exactly how you feel when you move to a new place.

Hi human, Deniz,

You do realise they don't allow phones in cells over there. You'd be better off buying a mobile phone :)

Your adventure is going to be Exciting :)

...and to top it all off, you don't speak the local language. Yup, that's us and our move to Ecuador. So much to learn!!!

Thanks everyone!
I did actually look at a few guides when I was in a bookshop - they gave me some great ideas!
It does help, being able to speak French, even if I'm not 100% confident - everyone's been very kind when I have to throw in an English word or two...
